It is generally attributed to Paul Lacroix (Bibliophile Jacob) who "always disavowed it". It is illustrated with 18 steel engravings on the theme of prostitution through the ages; 2 frontispieces, the rest images out of text. All 6 volumes bound in marbled paper boards with brown fabric spines, gilt spine lettering; spines rather worn, with cracks, small pieces missing, rubbed cloth and covers, corners bumped. The numerous engravings internally are fresh, clean and bright throughout and unmarked. Good and Very interesting copy.
