Galanis in text, some of them full-page. One of the 400 copies (No 232) on velin paper for this story in the Cyclades islands. Arthur de Gobineau enjoyed, among other things, a career as a diplomat and published under the title “Souvenirs de voyages” four short stories: Le Mouchoir rouge, La Chasse au caribou, Adelaide and Akrivie Phrangopoulo, as a souvenir of his stay in Greece where he was Minister Plenipotentiary of France. The scenes of the story take place in the Cyclades, in Naxos, Antiparos and Santorini. The love story of Norton, English commander of the Aurora, and the young and beautiful Greek Akrivie Phrangopoulo is above all an opportunity for the author to describe, with vivid images of beauty and truth, enchanting landscapes. Original two-tone (brown-grey) printed folded cover, slightly worn. Discreet name on half-title, protective tissue for the engravings, Very Good copy overall.
