In small 8vo, p. [4],310,[2]. Léon Lamouche was a French soldier, diplomat, and dialectologist. Ardent defender of peace and the right of peoples - minorities - to self-determination, his eclectic tastes lead him to study subjects as varied as comparative legislation, history and linguistics - with in particular the learning of several Slavic languages (Russian, Turkish, Romanian, Bulgarian, Albanian), the Judeo-Spanish dialect spoken in the East and Roman dialectology. His personal and professional commitment to the Bulgarian people never ceased from his student years until his last day. Half leather bound of the period, clothed boards, spine decorated with title in gilt, visibly rubbed. Clean and tight inside, untrimmed copy, slight foxing. Good condition overall.
