At the crossroads of the learning novel (for royal pupils) and the anti-absolutist political manifesto, the “Adventures of Telemachus” is an adventure novel, first published in 1699, that brought about both Fénelons disgrace at court and his immediate and subsequent celebrity. Full calf binding of the period, gilded titling on the spine (heavilly rubbed), along with fleurons between 5 nerves; spine rubbed and chipped, missing a small part at bottom, slightly cracked hinges, bumped corners.
