John Carne (1789–1844) was a famous British traveller and author, that visited Constantinople, Greece, the Levant, Egypt, and Palestine c.1820. The current publication is a collection of 45 letters, discovered after his death in various places and addressed mainly to his family, where he states in a very direct way his thoughts and plans about his life and his travels.
