ARGENTI Philip P., “Bibliography of Chios from classical times to 1936”, Oxford, at the Clarendon press, 1940. 8o, pp. xxx, 836. Contemporary fine binding, blue full leather, boards paneled in gilt, gilt edges, spine with raised bands blind-stamped title in gilt. Very Fine Copy. Philip Argenti (1891-1974) was born in Marseilles, into an old Chiot family of Genoese descent. He conducted research in various archives in Europe and wrote numerous important studies on matters of folklore, history and bibliography of his home island Chios.
