With full page frontispiece of Barthelemy’s portrait and a large folding map by Barbie du Bocage with original outline colour and all the plates finely engraved and in very good condition. An edition printed at the eve of the Greek Revolution, COMPLETE with all the 40 plans and views included. Barthélemy studied the works of Greek and Roman authors relying also on the well-documented investigations of J. Foucherot and Choiseul-Gouffier, made on the spot. In the atlas he includes accurate representations of the most important locations and battlefields, with all the maps designed by the eminent French cartographer and engraver, Ambroise Tardieu. Modern (restored?) synthetic leather bound, rather worn, bumped corners; marbled edges, foxing inside and scattered spotting, clean and tight though. Good Copy.
