Large 8vo, pp. 357, [3]; [4], 280, [10]. Printers device on title of the first book, the arms of Cardinal Georges d’ Armagnac on the title of the second. Woodcut decorative initials and head-pieces. First book entirely in Greek, second book entirely in Latin. Contemporary full calf. Blind-stamped paneled covers, spine with raised bands tooled in gilt, turn-in decorations inb gilt and all edges gilt. External rubbing and wear along sides and joints, spine with extensive rubbing with small parts chipped. Interior clean and fine.

Rare editions on Dion’s Roman history, based on the fragments of the 11th century Byzantine scholar, jurist, and patriarch of Constantinople Ioannis Xiphilinos / Ιωάννης Η΄ Ξιφιλίνος (born in Trebizond / Τραπεζούντα).
