Ιmportant grammar manual written by Manuel Chrysoloras (Μανουήλ Χρυσολωράς), the the Byzantine scholar, pioneer teacher of Greek language and ancient Greek literature to Western Europe and fundamental personality of Humanism. Written in a question-and-answer style, this grammar was serving as a teaching manual for the Greek language. It is considered the first such manual, dateδ before 1397, it was first printed undated in 1470 in Italy, followed by at least 50 editions in the 16th century. (Σταϊκος «Η πνευματική πορεία του Γένους» Α τομ., σελ.177-179). The French humanist scholar François Vatable is the editor of the current edition in France. Fine mid. 19th century binding with stamp “Bound by J. Mackenzie” on front turn-in. Brown Morocco, Dentelle turn-ins, all edges gilt, covers with paneled floral decorations in gilt. Spine with raised bands, divided in 6 parts of which 4 paneled in gilt and the rest with gilt lettering. Fine ex-libris label in gilt “Βιβλιοθήκη Σπ. Λοβέρδου” designed by K. Parthenis (Κ. Παρθένης). Restoration with paper addition to the lower corner of ff.[32], marginalia on 2-3 sheets, very light and scarce spotting. ONLY ONE COPY tracked in the British Library (System number: 017697958). Not in Adams, Not in Brunet, Not in Legrand, Not in Papadopoulos (Παπαδόπουλος). Legrand and Papadopoulos refer to a similar 1512 Paris editions (Legrand III 180, Παπαδόπουλος 1678) but with differences in the number of sheets and month of publication.
