The introductory page is followed by 30 numbered sheets with rare designs accompanied with descriptive texts, vividly presenting a cruise of four men (Dr Allan, Sir Jocelyn Coghill, Captain Bob and the author/illustrator Smith) in the schooner “Mary” to the Mediterranean in the mid-19th century. The company first visited Lisbon, and then Gibraltar, Malaga, Alicante, Malta, Corfu, Butrint, Vlorë, Rijeka, Messina and finally Naples. This rare edition is formed mainly by “drawings with amusing moments from the travellers’ stay in various ports, accompanied by short commentaries on the incidents” (VINGOPOULOU Ioli, “Travelogues”, Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation).
