Jean Doubdan, a French Priest, travelled to Palestine through Greece and the eastern Mediterranean from November 1651 to November 1652. His itinerary to Jerusalem includes a very detailed description of the Holy Land, as well as his narrative through the Greek islands. Doubdan provides extensive notes on the Christians of the Levant, their costume and way of life. He has returned via Cyprus and Italy and has kept detailed calendar notes. His description of the eastern Mediterranean of the middle 17th century is very valuable. Not in Atabey or Blackmer. Major restorations on title page. Restorations on the joints of two sheets and of tears on most of the folding plates with some paper addition. Staining and spotting throughout. Contemporary calf on boards, missing the calf spine.
